Lockers

Lockers are school property and are lent to students for their convenience.  Students are required to store their personal belongings in lockers rather than in the classrooms.

School Clinic

The school clinic will be available to students during the school day. For minor illnesses or injuries, the student must request permission from their teacher and homeroom teacher to go to the nurse. For more serious illnesses or injuries, the school nurse will contact the parent or guardian, relate the symptoms, and a collaborative decision will be made as to whether the student is to remain at school or be sent home. Students must be evaluated by the school nurse or designated personnel before leaving school. In the event of a life-threatening emergency, 120 and/or 119 will be called and every attempt will be made to contact the parent/guardian or persons on the emergency contact forms.

Library Rules and Regulations

The library and reading rooms emphasize the idea of RESPECT:

·   Respect the books and materials

·   Respect the staff and student volunteers

·   Respect each other

Printing and Copying

Each student has an account of 100 pages each term, to print in the library. While the library has a printer, which may be used for a few pages of work, most printing should be done at the student's home during the weekend. For copying this should also be done outside of the school. If a teacher gives you permission to have copies made in the teachers office it would only be if teachers have time and this will be on a very limited basis.

School Uniforms

Our students are the ambassadors of our school, and how they dress and behave conveys an impression to the public of what we are like as a school. A neat and tidy personal image is also an important part that contributes to the success of our students.

You are to wear the #1 uniform on the occasion in which you are representing the school. For example, unless told otherwise, you are to wear your #1 uniform on field trips. In other cases, students need to wear track suit during school days. Whether you are on or off campus, if you are in your uniform, you are to wear it correctly.

Computer, Cell Phone, and Internet Use

All computers maintained by the school are for academic purposes only. School computers are not to be used for personal emailing, video games, watching videos, online shopping, or participating in social media. Do not tamper with computer settings — doing so will result in a loss of privileges.

Cell Phones & Personal Laptops

Cell phones are not to be brought to campus or are to be turned in to their homeroom teacher when brought to campus. Cell phones/student laptops cannot be used during class time for gaming, socializing (such as WeChat), personal phone calls, or watching videos. Electronics may only be used with the permission and supervision of their classroom teacher. If a student abuses the privilege of electronic use when authorized by their teacher, the teacher will take the electronic away and submit it to the homeroom teacher or principal. If student has multiple phones and has one confiscated, they lose the right to use all phones during the period of confiscation. A three strike policy will maintain with respect to abuse of cell phone usage:

• First Offence: The student’s cell phone or laptop will be taken and held securely for one day.

• Second Offence: The student’s cell phone or laptop will be taken and held securely for one week.

• Third Offence: The student will lose all rights to their cell phone or laptop for One Month and a meeting with parents will be required to create a plan for proper electronic usage. In this case, the student will be required to submit their cell phone to the office each morning before classes start.

To ensure electrical safety, students’ computers are to be placed in the charging cabinet in the teacher's office for charging and are not to be charged privately in the classroom. After using computers during the week, they are to be placed in the charging cabinet for safekeeping and may not be taken out of the classroom. Computers may not be taken out of the classroom until after school on Friday.

Unwanted Photography

Photographing people at school or at school functions using still or video cameras can be a privacy issue and should not be done without appropriate permission.

The Internet

School computers and Internet resources, used carefully and wisely, can provide important avenues of learning for students. Inappropriate uses of Internet communications including the sending of threatening or harassing comments or cyberbullying are unacceptable. Any incidents will be addressed as a very serious issue. Students will engage in appropriate curricular behaviour when using the school network. Students will only publish their own personal information if related to curricular activities and parent/guardian consent is given. Students will not publish other people's personal information. For example, name, location, phone number, images, video, work, username, or other personal information.
